Brand New plays catchy pop rock simply for the love of music. While other people dream of starting a band and playing around the nation, Brand New is actually doing it. Formed in a basement in the New York City suburb of Merrick, NY, by drummer Brian Lane, and singer/guitarist Jesse Lacey, Brand New began with the intentions of nothing more than writing catchy songs that were more pop than punk. The two began practicing and quickly realized that they were on to something. They soon recruited longtime friends, Garrett Tierney and Vin Accardi, to play bass and guitar, respectively. After a few practices, it was clear that they were ready to get out there and play live. Their first demo, which the band recorded themselves, was released and circulated the northeast, selling more than 4,000 copies. Brand New played show after show around the New York area with bands like A Newfound Glory, Good Charlotte, Midtown, the Movielife and Glassjaw. Before they knew it, the guys were hopping on tours all over the country. They eventually signed with Triple Crown Records and released their debut full-length album, Your Favorite Weapon. 2002 brought the band tours with Finch, Dashboard Confessional and Thrice/Recover, as well as an appearance on the "Road Rules" soundtrack, Dont Make Me Pull This Thing Over. - Razor n Tie Records.
